Our Second Year at the Astra Film Festival in Sibiu: A 360-Degree Celebration of Immersive Cinema and CultureFor the second consecutive year, NewMedia Creative Technology Studio was honored to participate in one of the most vibrant and beloved cultural events in Eastern Europe—the Astra Film Festival, held in the enchanting city of Sibiu, Romania.
Our mission this year was to bring cutting-edge immersive technology right into the heart of the city. We installed a state-of-the-art geodesic dome in Piața Mare, Sibiu’s main square, transforming it into a fully immersive venue that showcased the year’s top 360º film productions from around the world. Visitors were invited to step inside and experience storytelling in its most innovative and emotional form—a true celebration of immersive media and digital art.
As a special highlight, the dome also hosted a live concert by Subcarpați, one of Romania’s most iconic and genre-defying bands. Their electrifying performance, enhanced by the dome’s full audiovisual capabilities, created a unique fusion of music, projection mapping, and cultural identity that resonated deeply with the local audience.
We are proud to be part of this amazing festival that blends documentary cinema, immersive experiences, and interactive storytelling in such a magical setting.
